Bristol Westbury-on-Trym Charlecombe Road
Glittering new day - these twin K type post boxes stand outside the headquarters (and, perhaps, only quarters) of the AKA Hairdressing Collective, which almost sounds like one of those 1970's militias covertly backed by the CIA. Anyway, it put me in mind of the 80's motown-inspired Scottish band, The Twinsets.
Bristol Ashton Gate Duckmoor Road
Murderer's stream - on the junction with Banwell Road. Banwell, a village outside Weston-super-Mud, appears in The Doomsday Book as Bananwylle, which has been translated (possibly erroneously - but why waste a good story) as Murderer's Stream.
Bristol Bedminster Luckwell Road
Tayto variety - it's a reference to the two companies - one in Meath, the other in Armagh - both making Tayto branded crisps.
Bristol Bedminster Aubrey Road
Who knew? - Headspace Hair & Beauty, the fine emporium outside of which this postbox now resides, have this tantalizingly marooned comment ("wow, need to try this, who knew?") on their F*book page.
Bristol Bedminster Chessel Street
Chance of a lunchtime - possibly a connection with the now closed White Horse public house on the corner of Chessel Street and West Street.
Bristol Bedminster West Street Argus Road
Established over a century - Another lost pub, this time The Red Cow, which had this boast painted above a window. The postbox stands today roughly where the boys stand to the left in the photograph below.
SaturdayBristol Southville Coronation Road
Grandsire doubles - Dove's Guide reports a ring of six in the tower at St Pauls, Southville. Grandsire doubles is rung on five bells so the tenor (A, 1874) would presumably be cover.
