The photograph is of the US 74th camp in the grounds of Tyntesfield during the 1939-45 war. Part of the camp was retained as temporary housing, called Tyntesfield Village, from 1946-60. Before visiting I speculated that this post box may have been installed to serve the village, but its position is probably too far west along the Bristol Road.
